The day will start with a 4-hour block on fighting from prone. Shooting from prone is too often viewed (and practiced) as an administrative task for zero’ing purposes or done in some type of cathartic fashion. This is NOT that. Fighting down to prone, engaging as rapidly AND accurately as required, and fighting back up is a foundational skill that is sadly often overlooked or skipped over during a lot of shooter’s training regimen. That block will be followed up after lunch with “Malfunction Junction," which is an 4-hour block focused on skills and techniques needed to fix the F’ing gun, under all conditions, in order to get back in the fight. These skills are essential once your training with a carbine takes you off the flat range and into the field environment, where the sun don’t always shine, and your eyes are better off doing other things than staring questioningly at your weapon when it doesn’t go bang. This class starts with the understanding that reducing malfunctions must occur with efficiency and techniques that must be 100% reliable and repeatable under all types of circumstances. Transitions to pistol will also be put into a context and trained as part of the overall malfunction procedure.
